What is NIMS?

The National Information and Monitoring System (NIMS) has been established for the generation of appropriate and effective information to enable safety performance to be monitored and measured, for benchmarking , for maintaining institutional memory, and for use as a tool for decision making by both the RSR and the railway industry

The NIMS online system allows you to:

  • Receive instant feedback from the RSR regarding applications.
  • Communicate directly with RSR staff dealing with your permit application
  • Reduce the time it takes to complete and submit applications because NIMS will system will pre-populate the permit applications with data and documents that is stored in the system
  • Simplify the permit application process by updating only necessary information- no need to re-submit the same information every year!
  • Reduce your administration burden on all rail related administrative operations
  • Store all your documents and permit information in one central repository, and
  • View and track your entire application history for all Permit types from any computer.
